If you’ve ever been a server, you’ve had the haunting dream where you are running around waiting tables and keep forgetting to bring that one table a side of ranch… ahh! In any industry, there are nightmares that come with the stresses of your job. Forgetting to take care of a client, the dangers of the oil field, failing at a presentation.
So, what does it all mean? That you’re normal! It is common to dream about your workplace. Considering how much time we spend involved at work, it only makes sense. However, if your work is keeping you from sleeping at night, that is another subject.
Do you “bring your work to bed with you”? When you leave the office, you should experience a break feeling where your brain switches gears from work to personal life. When you walk in the door at home, ideally you have made it through that transition and can enjoy the pleasures that come outside of work like cooking a meal, exercising, or laughing with your family! Once the evening is over and you are laying down for bed, do thoughts of work creep back in?
If the answer is yes, you are stressing about work and need to make a change! We work so that we can provide for ourselves and our families, and so that we are able to live life fully. Don’t let your job rob you of that time! Talk to someone who can help you sort through your stressors and lead you into a healing process.
